Selected Shorts Celebrates Indie Lit Fiction
CLMP on NPR

On March 26 at 6:30 pm, Symphony Space's series Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story, together with the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses, will present an evening of short fiction by emerging writers. Selected Shorts features great short stories read by Broadway and Hollywood's finest actors, and is recorded for later broadcast on NPR. This special reading, in celebration of Small Press Month, will highlight emerging voices from America's independent literary publishers. The stories were selected through a join effort of Symphony Space and CLMP, initiated through a call for best work from amongst CLMP's several hundred publisher members. The broadcast will feature:

Hope Davis reading Ana Maria Shua's "A Profession Like Any Other," published in "Cruel Fictions, Cruel Realities: Short Stories by Latin American Women Writers" by the Latin American Literary Review Press

Stephen Lang reading Anna McKenzie's "Stop That Girl," published in ZYZZYVA

Paul Hecht reading Kevin Brockmeyer's "The Ceiling," published in McSweeney's

Check your local public radio station's guide for broadcast details, or visit www.symphonyspace.org for more details. The live program will take place at 6:30PM at Symphony Space. Symphony Space is located at 95th and Broadway. Box office hours are Tues-Sun Noon-7 pm. Tickets are $21 and may be purchased in person at the box office, by phone at 212-864-5400, or at http://www.symphonyspace.org/.
