Periodically Speaking: Literary Magazine Editors Introducing Emerging Writers

New York, NY—The Council of Literary Magazines and Presses [CLMP] and The New York Public Library present Periodically Speaking, a reading series providing a major new venue for emerging writers to present their work while emphasizing the diversity of literary magazines in New York City and the magazine collections of The New York Public Library. Each event presents writers from three influential literary magazines—one poet, one fiction writer, one nonfiction writer—introduced by their publishers/editors.

The Paris Review
In the inaugural issue, William Styron wrote, "I think The Paris Review should welcome these people into its pages: the good writers and good poets, the non-drumbeaters and non-axe-grinders. So long as they’re good."

Bellevue Literary Review
Published by the Department of Medicine at New York University, the Bellevue Literary Review provides a forum for illuminating humanity and human experience.

Also, please join us for the 7th annual Lit Mag Marathon Weekend: Saturday, June 10th, it's The Magathon, a reading by literary magazines editors at The New York Public Library, 5th Avenue and 42nd Street; and on Sunday, June 11th, it’s the Literary Magazine Fair, where it's bargains galore—$2 a mag!—at Housing Works Used Book Café at 126 Crosby Street.
