Onyx Publications accepts submissions for our quarterly on-line magazine, Etched Onyx. While we do have deadlines and submission limits for our specific magazine editions, we accept submissions year round. If you have missed one of our quarterly submission windows, or the maximum number of submissions for a specific edition has been reached, you can still submit to our Open Call project on Submittable.
All stories in the magazine are narrated and include an author interview in our bi-monthly Story Discovery Podcast. A new podcast show is posted every two weeks after the initial release of the on-line magazine. Etched Onyx is published in January, April, July, and October. Writers of accepted submissions receive a portion of earnings from any future anthologies that include their work.
Submitted works must be previously unpublished fiction, nonfiction, poetry or flash fiction. We do not require that you put the story’s life on hold while applying to us, therefore simultaneous submissions are fine, but please do let us know immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere. We are open to all styles and types of writing as long as the story is engaging. While we are not opposed to experimental or speculative types of fiction, it has to be interesting and understandable.
You may submit up to five (5) poems in one document/submission.
All works must be under 7,000 words.
Manuscript requirements and a link to our Submittable Portal can be found on our submissions page.
