Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Cream City Review is a non-profit literary magazine devoted to publishing memorable and energetic fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, and comics that push and undermine the boundaries of stable definitions of “literature”. The magazine also features reviews of contemporary literature and criticism, as well as author interviews and artwork. The publication is an established biannual that attracts both readers and submissions from around the world. We receive approximately 4,000 submissions each year in fiction, poetry, and nonfiction from both unpublished and established writers. Our journal reflects this mix—often publishing poet laureates beside artists who have never been published before. From the thousands of submissions, our volunteer staff of graduate students selects 20-30 poems, 5-8 stories, 1-3 essays, and 4-8 pages of color visual art for publication in each issue.
