Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Mojave Heart Review is an online journal of contemporary literature and the arts. We publish poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, fine art, sound art, mixed media, light art, and artistic photography. We have a desire to share a message of peace, love, and reverence for wild spaces and natural beauty by sharing works of art we savor and are fortunate enough to publish. In doing so we hope to promote awareness and protection of the vulnerable desert ecosystem. Here, at Mohave Heart Review, artists inspired by the desert are sharing their dreams, visions, and ambitions—as well as conceptual and intimate perspectives—on our small, but fearsome sliver of the artistic landscape. Although we feature works with a desert theme, we also publish avant-garde literature, poetry of dissent, and cutting-edge art with other motifs. We publish work by both new and established artists, including aspiring high school, college, and university students. We publish online once a month. A printed version of Mojave Heart Review is planned for the future. All genres and media are welcome. There is no fee to read our journal, nor is there a cost to submit work. We hope you enjoy your visit and will come back again to see what works we have curated for future issues.

Submissions Policy
Mojave Heart Review is interested in original, unpublished work. We do not consider work that has appeared elsewhere, including websites and personal blogs. Our journal is small, and for this reason selection is competitive. Please submit only your best work. We are looking for work that is honed, abstract, and unforgettable. Our desire is to enrich and continue the tradition of literature and the arts in the present day. Submissions that deepen the understanding of what art is, and can be, are encouraged and welcome. We accept most styles—traditional or experimental—though please keep in mind our underlying desert theme (which includes the “internal desert” concept, and what that may mean to you). Although we feature works with a desert theme, we will publish avant-garde literature, poetry of dissent, and cutting-edge art with other motifs. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but let us know promptly if a poem has been accepted by another publication. Please do not submit your work more than twice in a year. We are unable to pay artists right now, but we promise to do everything we can to promote you and your work via our social media platforms.
