Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
We are a biannual online review of poetry publishing January 1st and July 1st each year. We are dedicated to the publication of superlative poetry, translations and essays from contributors the world over. Each issue will carry upwards of 100 poets, from the world's most renowned to first time publications. No restrictions with regard to form, subject matter or length. A distinctive voice is prized. Long poems are always welcome to any length. We accept our submissions through Submittable and, unique in the literary world, we will respond within 15 business days. Unique again, we are a family operated review without any affiliations whatsover. The American Journal of Poetry does not employ readers or screeners. Editor-in-Chief Robert Nazarene and Senior Editor James Wilson will read each submission. Be bold, unafraid, uncensored. And read, read, read.

Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Please do not explain to the editor what the poems mean.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
The genuine, the non-pretentious. Overthinking is the greatest enemy of the poem.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Have faith. Believe in yourself.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
Our greatest pleasure is to be the first review to publish a poet's work.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
Your dad. If we can get your dad in the boat, we can get anybody in--huh?
