Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Bicoastal Review is a nonprofit publisher committed to fostering creative and cross-genre conversations among poets and writers whose works and theories are shaping the contemporary literary scene. We're opening gates for poetry (free verse or formal), nonfiction, essays, and reviews from our beloved coastal communities, publishing writing that provides a lens into varied schools of thought, showcasing epiphany and mastery of language. We enjoy writing related to environmentalism and ecopoetics, timely New York and California topics, and writing that transcends the individual. We believe this collective of voices will circumscribe a study of American writing that highlights the movements, ruptures, and allegiances happening simultaneously on opposite ends of the nation. This does not mean writers from the "in-between" are not welcome to submit, and we highly encourage international writers to send in their work.

How Are Submissions Processed In Your Magazine/press?
We are currently working toward a Submittable to filter through submissions and guarantee each submissions at least two readings before being accepted or rejected.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
We are looking for writing we, The Editors, would want to be the authors of, i.e., the strongest contemporary writing. We have an eye for pieces that showcase a mastery of imagery, poetic turns, and place; and are given to timely NY and CA pieces.
