Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Santa Fe College’s literary journal Zephyr believes in the power of student voices. We are a student-led project committed to showcasing original, imaginative, and courageous work from emerging writers and artists in our college community. Our editorial process—from submission review to design and publication—is entirely driven by students, with guidance from dedicated faculty advisors who respect and support student independence. We value creative freedom and authentic expression in principle and practice. We seek work that reflects the complexity of the lived experience; Zephyr is a space where our humanity can be explored through poetry, prose, and visual art. We welcome a wide range of perspectives and are especially drawn to work that challenges convention, evokes emotion, or sparks reflection. The culmination of our work is not only a printed and digital artifact—it is a conversation, an invitation, and an archive of our creative moment. Zephyr is a record; it proves we were here. As students and faculty, we believe art, both written and visual, is a vital form of exploration, expression, and connection. Art is part of what makes life worth living. Through Zephyr, we aim to build a community where creativity is celebrated and nurtured. In this spirit, we publish work that is unique, thoughtful, and relatable, and we do so with the integrity, curiosity, and passion that defines our generation.
