Fall Internships in Publishing


We’re happy to share a list of fall internship opportunities at some of the independent literary publishers that are members of CLMP.

Bellevue Literary Press, located in New York City, is looking for a part-time intern for the fall to read and appraise manuscripts, manage the online submissions log, attend staff meetings, and assist with a variety of office tasks. The ideal applicant is detail-oriented and organized with excellent writing and communication skills as well as a strong interest in publishing and/or the nonprofit arts sector. Electric Literature, located in Brooklyn, New York, is seeking a fall part-time intern (10–20 hours/week) from September through December with a $200 per month stipend to cover transportation and meals. Candidates must work at the office at least 2 days per week. Epiphany Magazine, located in New York City, is seeking interns for the fall/winter. Responsibilities include reading submissions to the journal, research projects, and day-to-day tasks. Deadline for applications: August 28. For more information, visit the website.

Etruscan Press, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, offers internships year-round, both in its office on the campus of Wilkes University and remotely. For more information, visit the website.

The Mantle is looking for two unpaid, part-time interns for 10 hours per week. Interns will operate remotely. The intern for The Mantle’s imprint will work with the editor-in-chief and publisher to execute publicity and marketing plans for current and forthcoming releases. The intern for our magazine will work closely with the managing editor, learning the inner workings of an online magazine, and eventually taking on projects of their own. Requirements include attention to detail, strong communication skills, solid writing and research skills, ability to work independently, ability to juggle multiple projects and to meet deadlines, a self-starter attitude, and a penchant for creativity and innovation.
