Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
The Appalachia Book Company (The ABC) is a nonprofit publisher and event company dedicated to preserving and continuing the literary culture of rural and central Appalachia. We solicit, curate, and publish works that reflect the Appalachian experience and that challenge stereotypes. We showcase our community’s distinctive culture by promoting the work of our region’s writers and storytellers and connecting them to the national media and arts ecosystem. The Appalachia Book Company is a place to discover the real Appalachia through its writers and storytellers.
