Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Autumn House Press is a nonprofit publisher located in Pittsburgh, PA, whose mission is to publish and promote poetry and other fine literature. 1.) The press will concentrate on publishing the work of excellent contemporary writers who have a following among readers, but whose work has been overlooked by commercial publishers. 2.) We see our relationships with our authors as partnerships; we will support them by ensuring their books are edited with care and are available in a variety of locations. 3.) In the belief that a book is not only a readable text but also an object of art, the press is dedicated to producing beautifully designed, well-manufactured books on acid-free paper, as well as electronic texts of comparable quality. However, this dedication to quality will be balanced against considerations of cost in order to make the books affordable to all. 4.) We believe art and literature are essential to the growth of a community and strive to enhance the neighborhoods around us.
