Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Hawai‘i’s longest running, independent, literary small press. Bamboo Ridge Press is a nonprofit organization founded in 1978 to foster the creation, appreciation, and preservation of literature and art for, by, or about the people of Hawai‘i and the Pacific. While special attention is given to literature that reflects an island sensibility, Bamboo Ridge is broad in scope and embraces a variety of work from emerging and established writers across the nation. Some of our books have received recognition for literary excellence and for their contribution to the understanding and appreciation of Hawaiʻi’s cultures and people.
