Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Please include a THIRD PERSON bio (don’t use “I / my,” leaving us to guess your pronouns, use his / her / their, as in “her work can be found online at coffinbell.com.” Clearly restate your pseudonym if it differs from your Submittable name.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
The beauty of the author’s relationship to language, solid prose free of typographical errors, clarity & ease of reading, originality, and—as Poe referred to his beauty Ligeia—“some strangeness in the proportion.”
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Don’t write your cover letter (or your queries!) in allcaps. Editors are sensitive to that.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
My favorite “how did you hear about us?” answer in a submission is “I found a copy of COFFIN BELL: ONE in a barbershop in Scotland.”
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
Anyone who appreciates the dark, gothic, horrific & beautiful in the literary.
