Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Dark Moon Lilith is about the dark feminine, which is not about evil, as some would have us believe. The dark feminine is the creativity that inhabits our subconscious, the place where our deepest, most profound knowledge, wisdom, and creative impulses live. It’s the place where our Shadow hides for fear of judgment, marginalization, and rejection. Dark Moon Lilith was initially, and will continue to be, created with special souls in mind. The artistic, imaginative, inventive souls who don’t “fit in.” Because they choose to dance to their own music or because the culture they’re from has pushed them and/or their ideas to the fringe, deemed them “too much” or “not enough.” Those who work and create without the luxury of monetary compensation. Those who are labeled with a “disorder” or some sort of “deficiency.” The wounded. The healers. Those who hear voices, see images, are sensitive to the energies and profound knowledge of the Universe, and who know that there is great wisdom and potential for growth in the darkness. Those who are called to buck the systems in which we live because they keep believing human evolution and change is possible. Dark Moon Lilith was and will continue to be created with the heartfelt belief that one day, there will be a more accepting and loving place—a more evolved and aware place—in which we all may sing our souls’ songs. Dark Moon Lilith is about the unusual. It’s about truthfulness, about lifting veils of illusion disguised as reality. It’s about the darkness, not as an evil force but, rather, as a creative force.

How Did You Arrive At Your Current Position?
I first published DML in 2000-2001 in print form and again in 2008-2009 in digital form. I've recently been called back to it. Words, stories, writing, education, and literacy have been integral to my life for decades.
What Is The Staff Structure At Your Magazine/press?
I'm just returning to it, so this is in progress. My goal is to initially have 3-6 intern positions that will become paid positions.
Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
I'm mostly interested in knowing why people are drawn to the magazine and how they think the work they're submitting fits its focus. We also ask for everyone's sun, moon, and rising signs. :)
How Are Submissions Processed In Your Magazine/press?
We will be accepting submissions through Submittable links provided on the site. When received, my interns/staff and I will develop a method for systematic reading and determining which submissions align with DML's focus and are high quality.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
First and foremost, that it fits the magazine's focus, and also high-quality, polished writing that needs little editorial intervention.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Follow the guidelines on the website and rest assured that we are happy to publish work from writers of all experience levels. If the work is well-done, if it fits our focus, and if it resonates with us, we'd be happy to have in our pages.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
DML's ideal reader is anyone who is drawn to the unseen, unheard, and otherworldly, as well as ideologies that might be considered "radical" by the status quo.
