Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
We are an independent publisher of poetry, memoir, and genre fiction. Flipped Mitten Press champions emerging authors, especially those who are frequently overlooked by the publishing industry. What do we mean by “overlooked” authors? To us, this looks like (but isn’t limited to): BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, disabled, and working-class writers. If you face systemic barriers while trying to break into the literary world, we mean you. As we deeply understand the power of storytelling and resilience, we’re committed to fostering a nurturing environment where authors find support, encouragement, and compensation for their creative work.
