Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
flo. is a literary magazine dedicated to publishing short stories, creative nonfiction, and poetry by writers residing in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. We print issues semiannually. flo. aims to highlight the intersections and divergences of experiences of people in one geographic region.Ottawa-Gatineau sits at the intersection of three great rivers and two provinces, all the while existing as a liminal space between two of the biggest Canadian cities. It marks a place of communion, transition and fluidity. With each issue, flo. attempts to capture the ebb and flow of an ever changing city and the people who live in it: we aim to celebrate its charm while acknowledging its shortcomings.

Submissions Policy
We accept previously unpublished work from emerging and established writers residing in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. We pay an honorarium of 5 CAD for accepted works under 500 words and 10 CAD for accepted works over 500 words. All published writers receive one (1) contributor copy. Please include a short bio of 50-100 words with your submission on the last page of your word document. You may include one (1) submission per genre, per submission period. Simultaneous submissions are allowed and encouraged, but please let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. Send submissions to [email protected]. Please include the genre in the subject line. Identify your connection to the Ottawa-Gatineau region in your submission.
