What Do You Look For In A Submission?
We look for originality of story as well as quality of writing style and prose. We look for authors who are willing to polish their work to a rigorous standard and work with our team for branding and marketing.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Make sure you have taken your work through at least a good critique group if not a full developmental edit before submitting. It is important that it be your very best work.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
Meg Hafdahl had submitted a short story to an anthology I was helping curate. I mentioned to her our call for submissions and she sent in her work. I loved her voice in both pieces I'd seen that I pitched her the idea of doing a short story book.
