Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Interim seeks writing that engages the perilous conditions of life in the 21st century as they pertain to issues of social justice and the earth, writing that demonstrates an ethos that considers the human condition in inclusive love and sympathy while offering the same in consideration of the planet. Because we believe that the truth is always experimental, we especially appreciate work with innovative approaches. Interim is an international literary journal that publishes poetry, translations, criticism, reviews, and hybrid texts by emerging and established writers. Former contributors include Martine Bellen, Anselm Berrigan, Robert Creeley, Duriel E. Harris, Brenda Hillman, Paul Hoover, Nathaniel Mackey, Alice Notley, Leslie Scalapino, Eleni Sikelianos, and Patricia Smith. Issues of the journal are published quarterly online and are accompanied by an annual print volume curated from those issues and from other work received during our two open reading periods each year.
