Editor and Associate Professor
How Did You Arrive At Your Current Position?
After the Spring/Fall double issue appeared in 2016, IPR was faced with a variety of challenges. I took the position in 2019 and with the support of UNC Press and the Langs. Dept. at UNCG we have reforged relationships with contributors and readers.
What Is The Staff Structure At Your Magazine/press?
Editor, Associate Editor, Translator Editors, and Consulting Editors.
Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
We consider submissions of up to three poems, works of micro or flash fiction of up to 500 words, as well as literary non-fiction and short essays of up to 1000 words. We accept a limited number of poems originally written in English.
How Are Submissions Processed In Your Magazine/press?
A team of blind readers, experts in the language the works are originally written, review and provide recommendations regarding submissions. The Editor and Associate Editor make final decision in case of disagreement.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Works in translation will appear in bilingual format. We do not rigidly adhere to any one school of translation theory. We do, however, request that the translator secures the necessary translation and publication rights.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Email your work, including text in the original language, its English translation, brief biographies of author and translator, and a context paragraph of up to 100 words.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
International Poetry Review is dedicated to the idea that the world becomes a better place when we listen to the voices of writers working in a variety of languages.
