Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Send 5 page maximum sample work, typed double spaced on 8.5x11 in pages, word or pdf attachment, with your name, street address, brief bio, community, and marketing plan. It's ok to snail mail or email. Submissions are not returnable.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Like thinkers who are LGBTQ, people of color, and feminist, with artistic bent towards social justice and equality. Excellent use of language. Interesting stories. Not novels, usually. Not religious.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Have your work professionally edited if you are not good at that. Do not expect to make a lot of money. Have a lot of patience.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
I have met wonderful people through my press who have stayed friends: even found a long lost uncle! Many authors and artists were, and are, elders. Herme Medley (90) passed away just hours after I delivered her second book of exquisite poetry.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
