Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Levitate aims to be inclusive, both in terms of the authors and the types of work we accept. We want to create a safe and comfortable place for writers of all backgrounds and languages. We recognize that the writing industry has been predominantly white and we aim to lift up the voices of writers of color, as well as other marginalized communities. We recognize that everyone deserves for their voice to be heard, and we believe that it’s important that writers at various stages of their careers are given the opportunity to showcase their work and the perspective it shows. Levitate accepts all genres of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and visual art, and is also accepting work under the theme “Insomnia” for our Issue 8 themed dossier.

Submissions Policy
We publish one issue annually in late spring. We will open for submissions starting Oct. 8, 2019 and close on February 15, 2020, allowing for a print production date in early May. We strive to assemble a collection of literature and art designed and written with purpose and demonstrating a passion for the work. We are open to unconventional work, while still appreciating the traditional. We are committed to publishing literature and art that is inclusive of diverse identities, perspectives, and crafts. We encourage new voices, but accept work from established artists and writers as well.
