Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Welcome to NiftyLit! So nice to meet you. We are busy building a literary magazine powered by web3 technology, with a general goal of creating a sustainable business model that provides access to capital for writers and artists (in other words: we hope to revolutionize the literary ecosystem by creating a platform through which writers and artists get paid for their work). In the coming weeks, we plan to launch our new logo alongside our organization’s mission, vision, and values, and we are so excited to welcome artists to our new community! Look out for the launch of our community Discord, and watch for us on other social media outlets.

Submissions Policy
While we prepare for our official launch, we will be open for submissions during a “soft” launch period. Work submitted during this period will be considered for publication in early editions of NiftyLit. Our literary magazine submission guidelines are evolving at the moment, but will be similar to most “traditional” online lit mags. To that end: NiftyLit accepts original work that has not been previously published (including on your personal blog or website) in the categories of nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. In the future, we hope to open to more categories/ genres…please have patience with us while we ramp-up our staff, and therefore our capacity, to read more of your wonderful work! :) Within these genres, please do send: Short fiction and essays/ memoir (up to 7,500 words) Flash fiction and essays (up to 3 pieces, up to 1,000 words each; please format and submit as a single document) Poetry (up to 6 poems; please format and submit as a single document) Please do not send us full length manuscripts One submission per writer at a time, please. NiftyLit does accept simultaneous subs, but please do let us know promptly if your work has been accepted for publication elsewhere, in which case, we will offer you a big congratulations on having your work accepted! (Even though we will also be sad to not get the chance to publish your work). NiftyLit will take the rights to the first-time, electronic publication. If you are selected for publication, we will be in touch with you to discuss other parameters pertaining to our revenue model, with the goal of getting you paid (yay!), and which may (almost certainly) include pairing your writing with a cover artist for original artwork, minting your writing as an NFT collection, and distributing your work via an NFT-marketplace (more on that soon!). IMPORTANT: We will not accept emailed submissions, with the exception of submissions from writers who cannot afford to pay submission fees. If you feel you fall into this category, please email us at [email protected] and we will gladly consider your work. Do double space your work, preferably with a 12-point, serif font. Single-spaced poetry is okay, and experimental forms of font, line spacing, etc. are also fine by us if that’s the direction your writing hearts and minds take you. .doc and .docx files are preferred. Do not send us anything resembling hate speech or promoting bigotry or violence. We are passionate about building a community of creativity and kindness. We are delighted to read your work, and will give each submission our full attention. As such, it does take time for us to respond to everything. We thank you in advance for your patience. We are so grateful for the opportunity to read your work. That hopefully covers everything (for now). Sending you a big, warm welcome to our community! Thank you for supporting us as we grow. Please feel free to reach out to [email protected] with any questions, or for more information. With Gratitude, NiftyLit
