Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Soul Forte: A Journal for Spiritual Writing is the official publication of the Institute for Spiritual Poetry. We publish participants' writing from "Soul Forte: A Workshop to Write and Talk" -- our monthly writing workshop -- as well as the work of guest contributors. We ditch the idea that our writing is either good or bad, or that poetry should be poetic. Instead, we follow poet and professor Christopher Perez's approach that "writing is not assessment, but time" -- time to discover and rediscover what the heart knows to be true, if not popular or understood. To echo poet-playwright Irene Loy, may you find beauty and inspiration in _Soul Forte_'s offerings. Check out our website and join us!

Submissions Policy
_Soul Forte_ publishes the writing of participants in "Soul Forte: A Workshop to Write and Talk," a writing workshop hosted by the Institute for Spiritual Poetry. Participants are invited to contribute one to three poems per issue, perhaps generated by one of the Institute's writing workshops. The editor, Benjamin Bagocius, PhD, also invites guest contributors to publish in the journal. While we tend to publish only the work of workshop participants as well as solicited pieces, we are very open to publishing unsolicited pieces as well. Please email Ben at [email protected] for more information. We look forward to hearing from you!
