Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
_Soul Forte: A Journal for Spiritual Writing_ is the official publication of the Institute for Spiritual Poetry. We publish participants' writing from "Soul Forte: A Gathering to Read, Write, + Revel" -- our weekly writing-and-conversation workshops -- as well as the work of guest contributors. We ditch the idea that writing is good or bad. Instead, we follow poet and professor Christopher Perez's approach that "writing is not assessment, but time" -- time to discover and rediscover what the heart knows to be true. To echo poet-playwright Irene Loy, may you find beauty and inspiration in _Soul Forte_'s offerings.

_Soul Forte_ publishes the writing of participants in "Soul Forte: A Gathering to Read, Write, + Revel," a writing workshop hosted by the Institute for Spiritual Poetry. Participants are invited to contribute one to four poems per issue, perhaps generated from one of the Institute's writing workshops. The editor, Benjamin Bagocius, PhD, also invites guest contributors to publish in the journal. While we tend to publish only the work of workshop participants as well as solicited pieces, we are very open to publishing unsolicited pieces as well. Please email Ben at [email protected] for more information.
