Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
The Drift is a triannual, women-run magazine of literature, culture, and politics. Our goal is to provide a platform for new and emerging writers, and to publish ambitious fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. In just over two years, we’ve produced eight widely-read issues of short stories, poems, essays, and in-depth interviews with writers and scholars. The majority of our staff and contributors are women and/or people of color, and almost all are under 30. Many have written their first published work for us — we’re thrilled to have been able to launch their literary careers and help ensure their perspectives are heard. Our magazine aims to challenge accepted narratives, reframe familiar problems, and fill in the blind spots of mainstream thinking, all while introducing our readers to essential new voices.
