Grants from the Institut Ramon LLul

A public body founded with the purpose of promoting Catalan language studies, the Institut Ramon LLull (IRL) offers several funding opportunities to publishers interested in publishing Catalan literature:

The IRL Fellowship offers international publishers and agents a customized schedule of professional meetings with Catalan publishers and agents during Barcelona’s annual Books in Catalan Week.

The Promotional Materials grant covers materials to assist in the promotion of Catalan and Aranese literature abroad.

The Literature Promotion grant supports promotional events abroad focusing on Catalan or Aranese literary works as well as translated texts of Catalan and Aranese literature published in cultural journals (in print and/or digital format) for broader exposure outside of Catalan-speaking areas.

The Literature Translation grant supports the translation of works originally written in Catalan or Occitan (in its Aranese variety): fiction, poetry, drama, graphic novels, non-fiction, works in the Humanities field and children’s books.

The Illustrated Books grant finances the illustration of books published in a language other than Catalan or Occitan.
