Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
The magazine’s core mission is to de-center the ethnographic approach often taken to Arabic literature in translation, and to instead create a fun and aesthetically vibrant literary object that encompasses medieval, modern, and contemporary Arabic literatures in a bilingual format or in translation. Previous issues have had themes of “The Strange,” “The Sea,” “The Eye,” “The Road,” “Crime,” “Cats,” and “Dreams.”

Submissions Policy
We receive submissions through http://arablit.submittable.com, where we have a charity subscription. Submissions are welcome in pitch or finished form for each quarterly issue, from authors and translators, in Arabic and English. All our issues are themed issues. We weight having gender, ethnic, and regional diversity for each issue (translators and authors from around Arabic-speaking countries and beyond), although submissions to the ArabLit Story Prize are considered blind.
