(A conversation with Home.) CHEEK is a twice-yearly journal of art and literature, combining poetry, fiction, essays, commentary, visual art and criticism. CHEEK invites artists, writers and readers to engage with the concept of Home. At once personal, universal, social and political, the associations of Home are emotional, intense, complex. Home is voices and smells, streets and zones, the bed, the bowl and the law. We are born into Home, we struggle against Home.
Home is a book, a stopsign, a window. People, person, language. Where we are, where we go, we must contend with Home. The first issue of CHEEK (Spring/Summer 2022) will feature the work of artists and writers who have at some time called Kentucky their home. Publication will be both print and digital.
