Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
New Note Poetry is an online poetry magazine that features only the boldest poets and their verses. We aim to present new, genre-breaking artists while also fostering a high-quality brand. We do this by publishing our quarterly magazine featuring only the freshest voices. Since poetry has been around since the dawn of language, it is too easy to say that everything has already been done. We believe that there is always a chance to add a new note to poetry, to keep it moving forward while leaving a mark. Poetry is the jazz of the written word.

Submissions Policy
What We Publish: Poetry only. We believe that poetry is the jazz of the written word. Therefore, we are open to all styles except for metered rhyme or epic poems. We will reject those outright. We're not saying that kind of poetry is bad, but there is plenty of that out there. We seek fresh voices with unique perspectives. We want to see poets who break the mold and play with language, poetic form, and themes. We love the experimental and avant-garde but we also appreciate seeing modern deconstructions of classic poetic forms. No subject or theme is too far-fetched for us. We are not keen on flowery, cute, or mushy, romantic stuff. Poems in English only, please. We are open to translated work so long as you have the rights. What We Don't Publish: Anything that is not poetry and anything that is discriminatory towards any person or group (we don't need to tell you what constitutes). We also do not publish poetry that glorifies self-harm, suicide, or substance abuse. Swearing and sexual references are okay, but be tasteful about it. Don't shock and offend for the sake of it. What We Can and Cannot Do: As much as we would love to, we cannot give feedback on every submission. We also do not provide any proofreading or editing. Our magazine is not a paying market, but we will heavily promote you and your work if you are accepted for publication.

How Did You Arrive At Your Current Position?
Through many ups and downs. I originally wanted to be a filmmaker, but I quit the industry. I became a writer instead and never looked back since. I started New Note Poetry based on my love for poetry.
What Is The Staff Structure At Your Magazine/press?
It's me, myself, and I. I run the website, read the submission, do the marketing, pull my hair out trying to do legal stuff...
Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
"Professional" doesn't mean stiff. Use slang if that's how you communicate. I want to see your personality. Honestly, I stop reading cover letters that start with "To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to you inquiring about..."
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Bold. Unique. Innovative. You can do anything with poetry, so do it. Don't write stuff like "I wish I could fly." You can fly in poetry. Use poetic forms and language to show me.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Don't be nervous. The worst we can say is "no thank you."
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
The poetry lover on the cutting-edge.
