Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Raleigh Review is a resourceful nonprofit magazine of poetry, short fiction, and art, offering accessible works of experience that are emotionally and intellectually complex. At Raleigh Review we believe that great literature inspires empathy by allowing us to see the world through the eyes of our neighbors, whether across the street or across the globe. Our mission is to foster the creation and availability of accessible yet provocative contemporary literature. Raleigh Review has fostered the development of two literary magazine-publishing programs, one at Louisburg College, a nearby two-year college, and one at Saint Augustine’s University, an HBCU in Raleigh. Raleigh Review launched an approved University minor degree program in literary publishing at the latter school, which will enable us to continue providing more opportunities for local students to gain valuable publishing experience.

Submissions Policy
We take great pride in the fact that we do not actively solicit the majority of the work we publish. Each piece, regardless of the writer’s accolades or professional and educational background, moves through the submissions system in the same fair and equitable manner. This helps us publish early-career writers alongside better-known and renowned, award-winning contributors from every part of the country and occasionally from outside of the United States.
