Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
NOTHING CONFINES YOUR MIND. The difficulties of withstanding a chronic condition are not easy to understand by many. Many times, the stigmatization of some of these conditions is what hurts just as much as the situation itself. The ability to express one's emotions through poetry and prose is an invaluable experience— and that’s what Réapparition is here for. Chronic illness doesn’t define any human being. Rise up. Take a stance. Don’t let the hindrances of the situation, or even the stigmatization of the situation, get in your way. Whether you’ve experienced this yourself, or you’ve seen a loved one or just anyone experience setbacks, just know that the mind is stronger than anything thrown at it. We only accept content with positive messages. The re-emergence of your true, positive, and passionate self comes from an emphasis on positivity— hence the name réapparition (re-emergence or reappearance in french).

Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Be sincere, and tell us why your piece aligns with our mission! We want to see authentic work; without context, your piece that you put your heart into may seem like any other. Tell us why your piece deserves to be published.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Authenticity and originality. Additionally, we want positive pieces that tell a story of, if not recovery, a more optimistic mindset.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Don't hesitate. We just want to see good work that can resonate with our readership.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
We had one submission of a poem composed from social media responses to a prompt, which we thought was very unique. We love seeing novel approaches to the literary arts; don't be afraid to think outside of the box!
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
Anyone and everyone! Our mission is to de-stigmatize chronic illness, and that applies to every person who is interested in reading our journal.
