Title
Why a lit mag for computer-writing?
How Did You Arrive At Your Current Position?
It happened during a Black Warrior Review meeting, where I realized a joke I had just made about an AI literary magazine might need to become a real thing. I needed a place to exist where we could spiral UP out of the circular arguments about AI.
What Is The Staff Structure At Your Magazine/press?
From the editor: Well, for right now, it's just me. I currently volunteer this work because I believe this site should exist. In the future, should the burden of the work grow substantially, there will be room to bring others on board!
Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Give us as much context as possible! Positionality and Process are both factors we take into consideration when we look at submissions. A great piece may fall outside of our call for submissions if you don't explain why it fits.
How Are Submissions Processed In Your Magazine/press?
We use a GoogleForm, but we may be able to expand from there once the magazine really has legs.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Check out our specific calls for submissions, but we're really most interested in work that's not afraid of looking at the AI issue in the face. We're excited about true experimentation, and we're receptive to self-reflexive writing on media etc.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Go for it! The worst we can do is say "not for us," and at the current (low) volume of submissions, you can expect a clear reason why we weren't a fit for your work if it's a no from us. If we like it, we might ask a clarifying question or say yes!
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
One of the first subs we got was right near the heart of what we're going for: a collaboration between artists that then incorporated collaboration with a machine. It was also sick to learn about the AI Poetry Review, which is doing similar work.
Who Is Your Ideal Reader?
The curious ! The hoping-to-be-more-informed. Anyone who sees "electronic literature" and thinks "yes." Nerds, dweebs, artists, experimenters, dreamers. The fearful who want to become fearless.
