Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Speakeasy Magazine is a community-forward, queer/BIPOC-led, independent literary and open arts zine with roots in New York City. We're a place that is oriented toward underrepresented voices; MFA-holders or otherwise; self-taught artists; international perspectives; and everyone else. We're seeking poems, fiction, essays, art––anything raw and emotionally charged. We accept work that is traditional, experimental, hybrid. Give us your best work. Or your best garbage. Give us something risky, something you'd never send anywhere else. Give us the breakup poem you wrote when you were 16 and thought was fire, the story you wrote for a workshop, the angry letter you wrote to your landlord. Above all, it is our mission to be a platform where artists can come together and share stories that matter to them. We can't wait to see what you submit and we're grateful.
