Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Valley Voices: A Literary Review is located in the heartland of the Mississippi Delta. It is dedicated to readers and writers with a purpose to promote works of the writers from the Delta and other regions and foster appreciation of the literary diversity of our multicultural society in the Mississippi Delta and other parts of the world. Some special issues featuring Poetic Translation in a Global Context, Tennessee Williams, New York School and Diaspora, Mississippi Delta, Women Poets, and the Rivers are guest-edited by well-known scholars such as Angela Ball, David Lehman, Philip Kolin, Christopher Maurer, and Hermine Pinson. Valley Voices also runs an occasional campus issue to promote works of the college students. Though we hope to see more creative work about the South, Valley Voices features fiction, poetry, interviews, and criticism from writers and scholars anywhere. Authors we have published include Angela Ball, Billy Collins, George Drew, Denise Duhamel, Kendall Dunkelberg, William Ferris, Barbara Hamby, Randall Horton, Ha Jin, Ted Kooser, Richard Jones, Tayari Jones, David Kirby, David Lehman, Dick Lourie, Lenard D. Moore, Hermine Pinson, Tyehimba Jess, and Jerry Ward.
