Lit Mag Adoption

Teachers: with Lit Mag Adoption, integrating literary magazines into course curricula is easy, and comes at no cost to you.

Select from a diversity of America’s best literary magazines when you register your course using the Lit Mag Adoption portal. You’ll receive a custom code for students to initiate 1-year subscriptions at 20-50% off the usual price. We’ll also link you to a digital portfolio of essays on how to best use lit mags in the classroom.

Meet virtually with editors and publishers. When six or more students in a class subscribe to a single magazine, a publisher/editor from that magazine will make a virtual (or in-person where possible) visit to that class. Hear directly why magazine staff published what they did, discuss how lit-mag publishing happens, and learn about best practices for submitting creative work.

Promote a new generation of readers. Most poetry, short fiction, and creative nonfiction by emerging writers first finds its way into print through literary magazines, yet few student writers actively engage with the spectrum of magazines published today. By integrating literary magazines into course curricula, teachers encourage a generation of new writers who are also engaged readers and citizens in an active literary community.
