This biannual literary review publishes intricate creative writing by emerging and established writers. Founded by two literary critics and creative writers, we aim to provide a home for intricate writing, writing that is literary and lovely even when dealing with sad and ugly truths; work in which the precision, creativity, and experimentation put into crafting the language is undeniable and in which the attempt to provide insights about life is delicately woven. Like lace, where each stitch is carefully crafted, aesthetically pleasing, and serves a specific purpose, intricate writing is not superfluous but a complete, complex, and captivating composition. 

We ask that you only enter one submission during each submission cycle. Simultaneous submissions are happily accepted.

We rely on donations and small submission fees to keep this magazine running and to pay our writers. We recommend–but do not require–a $3-$5 submission fee. Whether or what you contribute will have no bearing on whether we publish your work.

Response Time & Payment

We aim to respond to all submissions within two months after our submission window closes. Often, it will be much sooner. If more than four months have passed since you submitted your work and you have not heard from us, please feel free to contact us.

We believe in paying writers for their work. However, as a burgeoning magazine, we are only able to offer a modest stipend of $30 at this time.
