Call For Submissions
Flash Takes Flight second annual flash fiction and flash creative nonfiction contest. Send us your best fiction and creative nonfiction under 1000 words! All styles/genres welcome: realism, fantasy, SF, speculative, experimental, hermit crabs, etc. First prize is $200, first runner-up is $100, and second runner-up prize is $50. The contest winner will be published in the 2025 fall issue of the Santa Clara Review. All other work will be considered for publication. Entry fee is $10.
Flash in Bloom: We are thrilled to announce a second contest this year, Flash In Bloom, seeking flash fiction and creative nonfiction under 1000 words by BIPOC, queer, and trans writers. We seek to uplift the community of BIPOC, LGBTQ, and multi-marginalized writers who have been historically underserved, and encourage submissions on multicultural and queer fantasies, futurisms, and liberations. The winner(s) will be awarded $200 in cash prizes, sponsored by the Santa Clara University’s Office for Multicultural Learning. The first place winner will be published in the Fall 2026 issue of the Santa Clara Review and will also have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive interview conducted by the Santa Clara Review and Office for Multicultural Learning, to discuss their experiences in writing and publication as a BIPOC and/or LGBTQ artist, their inspirations, creative processes, and more. Entry fee is $10.
