Calico Series (Two Lines Press): Trans Writers

Call For Submissions

As part of a forthcoming edition of Two Lines Press’s Calico Series, we’re looking for translations of contemporary trans writers. The call is open to translations from any language into English. We know that terminology around identity is always shifting and may have subtle differences across languages and cultures. To clarify, we are using “trans” as an umbrella term for anyone whose gender is not cisgender, including those who are transmasculine, transfeminine, nonbinary, and genderfluid. Please make sure the author is comfortable appearing in a collection of “trans” writers before submitting.

We’re particularly eager to see work that showcases hybrid forms and poetics. We’d like to see a selection of work that builds on itself, rather than a random assortment of vignettes or poems. While we’re asking for a sample translation of 10–15 pages, we’re looking to publish long selections by each chosen writer, ranging anywhere from 30–70 pages, which may be an excerpt of a project or an entire short book. The selected writers will be published together either in a single bound book or as a collection of chapbooks, depending on the kind of work selected.

DEADLINE: Submissions are open through July 6, 2025.
