Literary Prose: Fiction and Nonfiction

Broad Ripple Review is an online literary magazine publishing work that is formally precise, emotionally resonant, and intellectually alive. We value writing that unfolds with intention, offering layered insight, lyrical control, and structural ambition. Our editorial taste favors strong interiority, refined prose, and emotional depth, whether grounded in realism or experimenting with form.

We publish literary fiction and creative nonfiction. We are not a market for genre fiction unless the work is firmly rooted in literary tradition. Work that relies on genre conventions without subverting or elevating them through craft is unlikely to be a fit.

Please read the following guidelines before submitting:

What We Accept

• Short Fiction: up to 4,000 words
• Flash Fiction: up to five pieces, not exceeding a total of 4,000 words
  (No lower word count limit. Submit them together in one document.)
• Creative Nonfiction: up to 4,000 words (This includes memoir, lyric essay, and narrative nonfiction.)
