We crave an old fairytale replanted in fresh soil. In 500 words or less, we want to you to defamiliarize the stories we’ve heard thousands of times with new contexts, spins, twists, or anything else you can imagine.

We’re honored to consider your little fruits for our orchard (published every other week on our website and monthly in our newsletter). Up to 500 words. Call runs from September 15th through 22nd OR when we reach 100 submissions.
At Little Fruits, we publish work that smacks the reader with feeling and originality. We don’t favor any particular genre, but every piece must leave us with a smile, a tear, a scream, or a sigh and stay with us for a long time after reading.
For your submissions, please keep within wordcounts and genres; we ask that authors submit once per season. We don’t accept work that has been published, edited, or otherwise worked on with generative AI. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please email us if you’re accepted elsewhere. We do not accept work that is violent, derogatory, or graphic without purpose. Find more details on our guidelines on our website.
