This year’s AWP Conference, which takes place March 4-8 in San Antonio, Texas, has faced some challenges after it was announced earlier in the week that a woman released from quarantine in San Antonio tested positive for the coronavirus. As a result, many participants decided against traveling to the conference as a precautionary measure.
Each year, hundreds of independent literary magazines and presses rely on AWP’s bookfair to sell their publications, and this year, those not in attendance stand to lose this important opportunity. In response to the situation, Trevor Ketner, Publisher of Skull + Wind Press, came up with the idea of launching a virtual bookfair to help indie publishers promote the discounts they would have offered to both AWP attendees and to those who decided not attend this year.
Over 100 indie publishers have added their discounts to the growing Google document, which includes over 150 pages of offers.
Show your support for independent literary magazines and publishers by taking advantage of these special discounts and by sharing them with #AWPVirtualBookfair.
