Poetry & Protest: A Reading with Cyrée Jarell Johnson, Malcolm Tariq & Desirée Alvarez

UPDATE:  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and on the recommendation of our local health department, we have cancelled this reading.

Join us March 18, 7-9 PM, for Poetry & Protest, a reading at Berl’s Brooklyn Poetry Shop, featuring poets Desirée Alvarez, author of Raft of Flame, published by Omnidawn Publishing, Cyrée Jarelle Johnson, author of SLINGSHOT, published by Nightboat Books, and Malcolm Tariq, author of Heed the Hollow, published by Graywolf Press. Listen to the poets read from their recent work, followed by a wine reception.

This event showcases the work of poets published by CLMP member publishers from across the country and is presented in coordination with the efforts of the Poetry Coalition, a national alliance of more than 25 organizations that every March presents programming across the country on a theme of social importance. Inspired by the words of poet and activist Audre Lorde, this March’s theme is “I am deliberate / and afraid / of nothing: Poetry & Protest.”
