How Did You Arrive At Your Current Position?
Years of talking with friends in publishing about what we'd like to be doing inspired me to finally rally a group of friends and start this publication. They gave me the title, though I think of us all as equals.
What Is The Staff Structure At Your Magazine/press?
We have four editors including myself, a technology person and an arts editor. We all share the work and take on multiple responsibilities, in addition to soliciting submissions and reading and editing content for the journal.
Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
I really don't care how tall you are, even if you tell me in centimeters.
How Are Submissions Processed In Your Magazine/press?
We use a submission manager, and alternate reading months with two editors reading each month. If a submission is accepted by both editors, it gets scheduled. If it is turned down by both, it gets rejected. If there is a tie, a third editor weighs in
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Innovative use of language is always a plus, something that is doing something unexpected or startling, writing that would perhaps have difficulty finding a home in other publications because of its anachronistic or adventurous nature.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
We encourage them - part of our mission is to provide a home for new writers just beginning to publish their work. Of course, keep in mind that it takes a while to find the right fit for what you might be doing, and there are a lot of publications ou
