Submissions Policy
Autofocus is seeking personal essay, memoir, curated journal/diary, curated letters/e-mail, confessional poetry, hybrid explorations, and anything that makes art from your life. To submit, e-mail [email protected] Attach your work as a .doc or docx and include a brief cover letter and bio in the body. Make your subject SUBMISSION: Title. Please keep submissions under 3,000 words. Briefer work tends to have an advantage in this online format, but not as a rule—fit is most important. Feel free to send multiple works in one submission if most are short. Since all autobiographical work —due to the nature of memory and self-perception—is in some way fictional, autofiction is welcome. However, since work on the site is not labeled by genre, please understand that readers may interpret your piece as memoir. Collaborative work is welcome, too. So is work that includes photography and visual art (if have permission to use it or created it yourself). Simultaneous submissions are expected. Previously unpublished work only please.
