Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Circumference is a biannual journal of poetry, translation and international culture. We believe translation is a vital part of public and artistic discourse. In print and online, we publish new translations of poetry, drama, and essays, particularly—but not exclusively—from contemporary authors. We’re interested in interviews and dialogues between artists and thinkers of all stripes, and in profiles and other projects that shed light on literary and artistic praxis around the world.

Elina Alter, Michael Barron
We are looking for translations of new poetry being written around the globe, translations of poets of the past who may not be familiar to American readers, and new visions of classical poems. We’re also interested in translations of drama, essays, and other long-form writing, and in interviews with and profiles of artists around the world. We’d like to learn about authors who have not previously appeared in English-language translation, and about works in languages that are not often translated into English. Please see our Submittable for submission details.
