Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Founded in 2008, Consequence is an international literary magazine, addressing the culture and consequences of war. Each spring we publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, reviews, translations, and visual art. We also publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, translations, videos of our panel discussions, and in-depth book reviews regularly on our online magazine, In addition, Consequence runs an online forum titled Of Consequence, featuring readings and panels. Consequence is an independent, nonprofit magazine and a 501(c)(3) organization supported entirely by individual donations. Our office address is P.O .Box 323, Cohasset, MA 02025.

Submissions Policy
Our reading period is open in the spring and fall. Please check our website for details. Submissions must be submitted through our online submissions manager on our website. We no longer accept mailed or emailed submissions. For fiction and nonfiction: please submit one piece of no more than 5,000 words. For poetry: please submit up to five poems of any length. Translations are acceptable if the author’s permission has been granted. Simultaneous submissions are welcome and encouraged, but if your work is accepted elsewhere, please let us know immediately. Each submission may be accepted for publication in the print edition of Consequence and Consequence Online. Consequence is an independent, non-profit magazine, and a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. We offer compensation for published work.

We've received some brilliant translations of stories and poems from writers in countries that have experienced war. We go out of our way to include translations in each issue because it's so valuable to hear these voices.
