Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Esoterica Magazine provides content for those not well equipped to quiet their brain, who inhale thoughtful articles on topics that hover near the periphery of popular culture and the news agenda and ruminate on them for weeks, much to the chagrin of their lovers, partners, and co-workers. Our fiction section focuses on literary fiction, but we have published serialized plays by award winning playwrights.

Submissions Policy
Big Ideas: We are looking for approximately 1000 words on a thoughtful and researched perspective on topics relating to issues hovering on or near the news agenda. Pay is $75 Canadian and as an added bonus, we will promote your story widely on social media. Musings: Shorter than our big ideas, and sometimes covering a similar topic, Musings are an educated and thoughtful opinion on a theme hovering on the periphery of the news agenda. Imagine you are a dinner party, in a heated, but respectful conversation with guest who has a diametrically apposed opinion. Pay is $50 Canadian and as an added bonus, we will promote your story widely on social media. Literature: Short fiction under 3000 words but if it’s a bit over, just try us. We look for literary stories that tackle big theme ideas. We are also open minded so if it’s a play or a poem, we would still love to take a look. We don’t offer compensation at this time but we will promote widely on social media and we don’t charge to read.
