What Kind of Work Will Be Considered We accept submissions in multiple genres: creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, spoken word, drama, song, dance, photography, painting, illustration, literary analysis, research, and multimedia works (in Word, PDF, RTF, MP3 [audio] and MP4 [video] format), so long as submissions reflect one or more aspects of the first-generation college experience. Writers who identify as “first-generation college,” as well as those who support the first-generation community, are encouraged to submit. This is a peer-reviewed journal of creative writing, visual and recorded art, and scholarly work from the first-generation college community. The creative and critical work featured here offers insight into the valuable forms of social capital first-generation college students bring into the university.
