Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
FLARE: The Flagler Review is a literary journal published by undergraduate students in collaboration with the Flagler College English Department. We accept submissions from burgeoning and experienced writers who provide passionate work with unique insights. Our submitters come from all over the globe and hold a common spark in their hearts for the craft. Stationed in the nation’s oldest city, St. Augustine, FLARE has pursued its mission of expressing artistry and sparking inspiration for decades. Each spring, we showcase a new cast of artists and writers who display ingenuity and originality. Like a flare sent into the darkness, FLARE: The Flagler Review seeks to act as a beacon of creativity and community for Flagler College and beyond.

Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
We would like the courtesy of a cover letter, and not just your bio pasted in. A polite hello, the work you're sending, if a simultaneous submission, and where you heard about us would be nice. We also ask for a 75-word 3rd person bio.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
Well-polished work, with intentional language and structure. Poems that sing with originality. Rich imagery. Gorgeous metaphor. Craft. Intelligence. Edge. Risk. Emotional resonance. Nuance, but with a level of accessibility. Send us your best!
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Please read and follow our guidelines. It's important that no names appear anywhere in the submitted work, on files or in headers as we read anonymously. Please notify us immediately if your work is accepted somewhere else. Send in polished work!
