Hood of Bone is a biannual literature and art journal, published online in the summer and winter. While we are excited to receive work from writers and artists of varying traditions and geographies, Hood of Bone has an especial interest in work that observes the complex cultural heritage of Appalachia and the American South. We believe that Eudora Welty expresses our conviction most convincingly: “One place understood helps us understand all other places better.” Additionally, we are interested in the aesthetic use of language.
