Mission Statement / Editorial Focus
Howl, founded in 2013, is an online literary arts magazine run and operated by dedicated, passionate, and talented students of Deltona High School under the supervision and support of Dylan Emerick-Brown. Howl is dedicated to fostering newer generations of professional writers, editors, publishers, and graphic designers through hands-on experience and assistance from real publishers, editors, and writers at the top of their respective fields. We also have a passion for making a difference in our community and beyond through fundraising for Florida elementary and middle schools for their literary endeavors, putting together writing workshops, creating scholarships, organizing events, and more. Our editors/students have interviewed Pulitzer Prize winners, Poet Laureates, Nobel Laureates, acclaimed authors, and others involved in various aspects of the literary arts.

Do You Have Any Cover Letter Advice?
Please keep your cover letter brief and include a brief bio. Let your work speak for itself.
What Do You Look For In A Submission?
We look for command of language, unique styles and/or content, originality, and above all else we want to be moved by what we read.
What Advice Do You Have For First-time Submitters?
Peruse our website and read the work in the genre you're interested in submitting for. Review the homepage and see if you like what you see. We can be either an odd choice or a perfect home for your writing.
Do You Have A Favorite Unsolicited Submission Discovery Or Anecdote?
I can't say that there are any that specifically stand out. However, it is always nice to see a familiar name in a submission from someone who has commented on work or offered suggestions in the past. It gives Howl a feel of community.
